basic FUNCTION
  • microtubule associated protein, involved in neurite outgrow
  • involved in the regulation of retrograde axonal transport of mitochondria
  • role in adapting microtubules for nerve cell-specific functions
  • plays a crucial role in cytoskeleton stability and may also have a role in other cellular functions
  • MAP1B-LC1 represses the transcriptional activity of TP53
  • contributes to the maintenance of microtubule dynamics
  • involved in microtubule assembly, an essential step in neurogenesis
  • implicated in regulating microtubule organization and
  • dynamics and neuronal polarization
  • MAP1B RNA forms an intramolecular G quadruplex structure, which is bound with high affinity and specificity by the FMR1 RGG box
  • could be considered as a new protein involved in the terminal differentiation of odontoblasts
  • new and crucial function of MAP1B required for efficient cross-talk between microtubules and the actin cytoskeleton during neuronal polarization
  • implicated in axonal growth and guidance
  • new and important role for MAP1B in the formation and maturation of dendritic spines, possibly through the regulation of the actin cytoskeleton
  • this activity of MAP1B could contribute to the regulation of synaptic activity and plasticity in the adult brain
  • have important roles in neuronal development, particularly during neuronal migration and axonogenesis
  • function of MAP1B is to suppress axon branching and enhance axon growth and that this is achieved by maintaining dynamic microtubule growth
  • plays an important role in the stability of the cytoskeleton and may have other cellular functions
  • neuronal protein involved in the stabilization of microtubules both in the axon and somatodendritic compartments
  • novel function of MAP1B related with the control of small GTPases

  • FMR1 (RNA target of FMR1)
  • PAFAH1B1 and participate in neuronal migration
  • myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG) and stathmin-like 2 (STMN2)
  • glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH)
  • MAP1B-LC1 an interacting partner of PES1 required for ribosome biogenesis and cell proliferation
  • Mapmodulin/leucine-rich acidic nuclear protein (ANP32A)
  • GABA(C) rho1 subunit
  • gigaxonin (GAN)
  • myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG)
  • synuclein, alpha (SNCA)
  • Ras association (RalGDS/AF-6) domain family member 1 (RASSF1)
  • MAP1B, a microtubule stabilizing protein, and CLTC, the major component of the clathrin triskelion, are interaction partners for DST
  • may contribute to the spatiotemporal activation of the Rho-GTPases in dendritic spines by binding to the RAC1 and RhoA GEFs, TIAM1, and ARHGEF2
  • MARCH5 interacts with and ubiquitinates mitochondrial MAP1B LC1
  • MAP1B facilitates trafficking of SCNA8 to the neuronal cell surface
  • MAP1B interaction with the FW Domain of the autophagic receptor NBR1 facilitates its Association to the microtubule network
  • MAP1A and MAP1B interact with SNTA1 in the central and peripheral nervous system
  • interacts with a guanine exchange factor, termed TIAM1, which specifically activates RAC1
  • association between TULP1 and the microtubule-associated protein, MAP1B
  • MAP1B-LC1 (light chain) could interact with the ubiquitin-conjugating E2 enzyme UBE2L3 and the ubiquitination/degradation mechanism triggered by MAP1B-LC1 could be prevented by inhibiting the ubiquitin-proteasome proteolytic pathway

  • mice carrying an insertion in Mtap1b gene die during embryogenesis. Heterozygotes mice exhibit slower growth rates, lack of visual acuity in one or both eyes, and motor system abnormalities. Histochemical analysis revealed abnormalities in Purkinje cell dendritic processes
